The Maritime Ambassadors are tasked with sharing their passion for the maritime world, especially with young people who are beginning their education, learning and careers. The IMO's ambassador program aims to reach new audiences and inspire a new generation of maritime and seafaring experts. With this international recognition, the Faculty of Nautical Studies of Barcelona obtains an important international recognition as a center that promotes and exalts the values of a maritime career.
The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, on behalf of the Faculty of Nautical Studies of Barcelona, has announced the appointment of the Dean, Captain Agustí Martin i Mallofré as Maritime Ambassador of the International Maritime Organization, the specialized agency of the United Nations responsible for security and protection of navigation and to prevent pollution of the sea by ships.
Captain Martin joins 40 other ambassadors from around the world, and was nominated for this prestigious position by the Directorate General of the Merchant Navy (Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda).
