Feliç Diada de Sant Jordi 2021!

The Day of Sant Jordi is a very ingrained tradition in Catalonia, books and roses are the main protagonists of a day where the word love takes more strength than ever. From the Barcelona Clúster Náutic we want to wish you all a very good Diada de Sant Jordi, and we also want to make some literary recommendations to encourage respect and love towards the sea. The commitment of the Barcelona Nautical Cluster leads us to join forces to make the Blue Economy a reality.

We work tirelessly with projects that guarantee low emissions, that bet on a responsible consumption of plastic, that implement responsible fishing practices, we defend an industrial sector with sustainable facilities in the framework of the circular economy, and above all, we will be with all those projects that regenerate life at sea.

For all this Sant Jordi, from the Barcelona Nautical Cluster we make you the following literary proposals:

1. The Blue Economy: 10 Years, 100 Innovations, 100 Million Jobs. Gunter A. Pauli (2010)

Review. The blue economy began as a project to find 100 of the best nature-inspired technologies that could affect the world's economies, while sustainably providing basic human needs: clean water, food, workplaces, and shelter. habitable. From 2,231 peer-reviewed articles, Dr. Pauli and his team found 340 innovations that could be grouped into systems that work as ecosystems do.

2. Beyond the Blue Economy: Creative Industries and Sustainable Development in Small Islands Developing States. Peter Rudge (2021)

Review. This book advocates a broader approach to sustainable growth in small island developing States. Small island states such as the Caribbean, the Indian Ocean and the South Pacific face significant and growing threats from climate change, increasing political and social volatility, and rapidly evolving global trends in technology and tourism.

3. Rethinking the Oceans: Towards the Blue Economy. James Alix Michel (2017)

Review. The world has come to a crossroads. By the end of this century, the total population is expected to exceed ten billion, but the area of land to support it is finite. In fact, with climate change, some of the most valuable land areas will be lost, largely as a result of rising sea levels. To sustain life on earth, we need to find new ways to grow food, generate energy, and preserve the environment on which our future depends.

4. El Mar que més m'estimo. Laia Berloso and Clarà

Review. A book intended for the little ones in the house. The perfect album to understand the importance of caring for our seas from the threat of plastics. Love for the sea must be spread from an early age.

The end of the book includes information on plastics and tips for stopping consuming them.
