Networking Breakfast: The Economic Future of the Nautical Sector

On May 22nd, the Espai Mestral hosted the event “The Economic Future of the Nautical Sector,” a session organized by the Barcelona Clúster Nàutic in collaboration with the Port Olímpic of Barcelona. The aim of the meeting was to reflect on the sector’s growth potential and the key factors that will shape its development in the coming years.

The session began with the presentation of the new transformation project for the Port Olímpic — a proposal aimed at generating new economic opportunities for the city and strengthening the strategic role of the nautical sector within the blue economy.

This was followed by a round table discussion moderated by Claudia Parera Blanch, PhD, Director of the Barcelona Clúster Nàutic, featuring prominent professionals from the sector:

• Txema Rubio, Commercial Director at MB92 Barcelona
• Andrés Cárdenas, Founder and CEO of NUVA Yachts
• Kerry Allerton, Customer Relations Officer & Operations Manager at EVOLUTION Yacht Agents

The conversation addressed strategic topics such as:

• The evolution of the client profile, increasingly focused on exclusive and personalized experiences.
• The challenges of making nautical activities more accessible to new audiences, particularly families and young people.
• The perspective of new generations on work, training, and professional opportunities in the sector, highlighting a diversity of cultural viewpoints.

The event highlighted the importance of continuing to work collaboratively to position Barcelona as a benchmark for sustainable, innovative, and inclusive yachting.
