International Yachting Fellowship of Rotarians (IYFR), also known as Rotary Mariners, is a non-profit yachting fellowship and the oldest and largest Rotary fellowship of its kind. It was established in England in 1947 and remains active and thriving to this day. It is of particular interest to all those passionate about the sea, whether as a natural environment and source of wellbeing, or through recreational and commercial boating. Naturally, it also takes an interest in maritime rescue, scientific research at sea, commercial fishing and the naval forces.
Sailing, building friendships with like-minded people, sharing ideas and turning them into action, promoting civic responsibility and maritime ethics, as well as upholding the ideals of Rotary, are among its main objectives and purposes.
The creation of the Barcelona Fleet stems from the desire to strengthen relationships among people who wish to broaden their horizons while focusing them on a space that is both immense and powerful, yet also fragile: the sea.
