We are proud to announce that our founder and Honorary President, Antoni Tió, has been awarded Doctor Honoris Causa by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), in recognition of his career and contribution to the development of the nautical sector in Barcelona.
During his speech, the new Doctor Honoris Causa highlighted the transformation of the sector:
“The nautical sector, small, fragmented, and with an elitist image, must become, and is becoming, a strong economic sector, with added value and quality salaries. With the help of the Faculty of Nautical Studies of Barcelona and UPC, Barcelona Clúster Nàutic is contributing to bringing the spirit of the blue economy to Barcelona, socially and environmentally sustainable.”
From the Cluster, we deeply thank Antoni Tió for his vision, leadership, and everything he has contributed to the sector. A well-deserved recognition for a key figure in the transformation of nautical activities in our city.
