Barcelona Clúster Nàutic participated in a session organised by Institut Lluch i Rafecas in Vilanova i la Geltrú with the aim of bringing the maritime and nautical sector closer to vocational training students and presenting the career opportunities currently available in this industry.
During the event, professionals and representatives from different organisations linked to the maritime sector shared their educational backgrounds, professional experiences and insights into the career paths available within the industry.
Representing Barcelona Clúster Nàutic, Alba Seña, Communication and Marketing Manager, presented the role of the cluster in promoting and developing the nautical industry in Catalonia, as well as its work to strengthen the sector’s ecosystem and foster collaboration between companies, institutions and research centres.
The session also featured Pol Baños, Carlos de la Vega and Roger Martínez, predoctoral researchers from the SARTI research group at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, who introduced students to several research and technological innovation initiatives related to the marine environment.
Alex de la Fuente, manager of Club Nàutic de Vilanova, presented the reality of the recreational nautical sector and its impact on the local territory, while Xavier Socías, manager of GALP Costa Central, shared several initiatives linked to the development of the blue economy and the promotion of the maritime sector along the coast.
The session also included a presentation by Carmen Sánchez, Human Resources Director at MB92, who spoke about professional opportunities within the large yacht maintenance and refit sector.
Throughout the event, speakers highlighted the strong employment potential of the maritime and nautical sector, an expanding field that requires qualified professionals in a wide range of areas, from technical and operational profiles to specialists in research, management and innovation. In this context, vocational training was highlighted as a key pathway to access these professional opportunities.
Through initiatives like this, Institut Lluch i Rafecas reinforces its commitment to education connected to the business ecosystem and the realities of the labour market, encouraging students’ interest in careers linked to the sea and the blue economy.
