On Monday, April 28, Barcelona Clúster Nàutic participated in the presentation of the European She4Sea project, held at the Faculty of Nautical Studies of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in Barcelona.

The event served to showcase this pioneering initiative whose main objective is to raise visibility and strengthen the presence of women in the maritime-port sector, as well as to promote gender equality in highly male-dominated careers and professions.

She4Sea is an EU-funded project that takes a comprehensive approach based on four main pillars: research, training, awareness, and creation of collaborative networks. Through concrete actions such as conducting studies, collecting data, promoting female role models, and fostering alliances between organizations, She4Sea aims to help break structural and cultural barriers that still hinder women’s access and retention in this professional field.

The project focuses particularly on the lack of data and diagnostics about the situation of women in the maritime sectors, and promotes the creation of a European observatory to monitor the evolution of equality in the port and maritime domain. It also develops educational programs and training actions to foster female vocations in technical and nautical fields, as well as awareness campaigns aimed at companies, administrations, and the public.

Barcelona Clúster Nàutic highly values initiatives like She4Sea, which contribute to advancing towards a more equitable, fair, and inclusive sector.
