Last Wednesday, May 14, Barcelona Clúster Nàutic attended the presentation of the plastic transformation and valorization program, promoted by BCN Port Innovation, a pioneering initiative in the field of the circular economy.
This innovative project allows the plastics generated by port companies to be recovered, cleaned without consuming water, and transformed into new reusable products, thus reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainability within port activities.
During the event, representatives from BCN Port Innovation, MB92 Barcelona —a member of Barcelona Clúster Nàutic—, TMA Tecnología Medio Ambiente, the CARES Foundation, and the Port of Barcelona highlighted several key aspects of the program:
- The technical feasibility of the transformation process.
- The environmental benefits associated with the reuse of materials.
- The labor inclusion of people with disabilities within the project.
- The importance of collaboration between companies to advance toward a more sustainable economic model.
This initiative exemplifies how innovation and social responsibility can go hand in hand to transform the future of the port and maritime sector.
